COSCO Shipping Lines has officially launched its new CPV (China–Pacific–Vancouver) service, strengthening maritime connectivity between Asia and North America. The service commenced on 23 January with the 261.10-metre-long COSCO Santos departing from Yangpu International Container Terminal, carrying seafood, chemical products, and transshipment cargo from Southeast and South Asia bound for Seattle.
The CPV service marks the first Far East–Northwest USA/Canada route operated from Yangpu Port under the Hainan Free Trade Port framework, underscoring the port’s growing stature as an international logistics hub.
Enhanced Connectivity and Reduced Transit Time
The new service directly connects Yangpu with Vancouver and Seattle, offering improved multimodal access to inland markets across the United States and Canada. With 12 Asian feeder services already calling at Yangpu, the CPV route significantly broadens shipping options for exporters in Southeast Asia seeking access to North American markets.
According to the company, the direct linkage is expected to reduce transit times by 7–10 days, resulting in lower logistics costs and improved efficiency for cross-border trade.
Boosting Trade and Supply Chain Resilience
The CPV service is expected to facilitate the movement of agricultural, industrial, and consumer goods, further strengthening trade flows between China, Southeast Asia, and North America. By diversifying logistics channels and improving reliability, the service also enhances supply chain resilience amid evolving global trade dynamics.
The route deepens commercial engagement with the US and Canada while offering exporters more efficient and diversified logistics solutions.
Strengthening Yangpu’s Role as a Regional Hub
The launch of the CPV service reinforces Yangpu Port’s position as a dual hub serving both domestic Chinese and international markets. Backed by the Hainan Free Trade Port’s zero-tariff policies, international ship registration framework, and ongoing infrastructure upgrades, Yangpu continues to attract global enterprises and expand its regional aggregation advantage.
With the addition of the CPV service, COSCO Shipping Lines further consolidates its network between Asia and North America, supporting faster, more cost-effective trade flows across the Pacific.
