APM Terminals Poti reported a strong start to the year, registering a 15 per cent increase in container volumes in January compared to the same period last year, reflecting improving trade activity across the Black Sea region.

The terminal, located at the Port of Poti, attributed the growth to higher import and export demand, as well as increased transshipment activity. The rise in volumes underscores the port’s growing role as a logistics gateway connecting the Caucasus, Central Asia and European markets.

Officials said the double-digit growth was supported by improved service reliability and strengthened shipping line partnerships. Continued investments in yard optimisation, digital solutions and equipment upgrades have also contributed to enhanced operational efficiency and faster vessel turnaround times.

APM Terminals Poti plays a strategic role in facilitating cargo flows along the Middle Corridor, offering multimodal connections linking sea, rail and road networks. The January performance is seen as a positive indicator for regional trade prospects in 2026.

Industry observers note that sustained infrastructure upgrades and expanding hinterland connectivity will be key to maintaining growth momentum amid evolving trade patterns and competitive pressures in the Black Sea market.
