Dakshin Bharat Gateway Terminal (DBGT) at V. O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA), Tuticorin, has achieved a significant milestone by successfully handling a major EXIM transshipment parcel for the first time.
The operation was carried out on vessel M.V. Mila 3, which handled a total of 1,969 TEUs. Among these, 385 twenty-foot EXIM containers destined for transshipment from Tamatave Port to New Mangalore Port were efficiently discharged at DBGT.
M.V. Mila 3 arrived on 7 December 2025 at 1200 hrs, berthed at 1345 hrs, and sailed out on 8 December 2025 at 0825 hrs following the seamless completion of operations.
The connecting vessel, M.V. MSC Patnaree III, is scheduled to berth on 9 December 2025 to transport the transshipment containers to New Mangalore Port.
DBGT stated that this achievement reinforces the terminal’s emerging role as a key transshipment hub on India’s East Coast, with expectations of increased transshipment volumes in the coming months. The terminal also extended its appreciation to its workforce, the shipping fraternity, and the Port Authority for their support in enabling this operational success.
