Woodfield Systems is set to export India’s first locally manufactured LNG marine loading arm, marking a significant milestone for the country’s energy infrastructure equipment manufacturing sector and its growing participation in the global LNG supply chain.
The specialised equipment, manufactured at the company’s facility near Mumbai, is designed for transferring liquefied natural gas between shore terminals and LNG carriers. Marine loading arms are considered critical infrastructure components for LNG import and export terminals, requiring high precision engineering and compliance with stringent international safety standards.
Industry experts said the development reflects India’s increasing capability in manufacturing advanced energy and port infrastructure equipment that was previously imported from global suppliers. The export is also expected to strengthen the country’s position in the global LNG infrastructure and marine engineering market.
Woodfield Systems said the project involved extensive engineering, testing, and certification processes to meet international operational and safety requirements. The company has been focusing on expanding indigenous manufacturing capabilities for LNG handling systems and specialised marine equipment.
The achievement comes as India continues to increase investments in natural gas infrastructure, including LNG terminals, pipeline networks, and gas-based industrial development. Growing global LNG trade and expansion of regasification facilities have also created rising demand for specialised cargo handling equipment.
Industry observers noted that exporting a domestically manufactured LNG marine loading arm aligns with the government’s broader “Make in India” initiative and efforts to promote high-value engineering exports. The development could also open opportunities for Indian manufacturers in international energy infrastructure projects.
The company expects the milestone export to support further growth in overseas orders and strengthen India’s credibility as a supplier of advanced industrial and maritime engineering solutions.
