Groundnut and sesame seeds continue to lead India’s oilseed export trade, supported by strong overseas demand and the country’s established position in global markets for oilseeds and related products.

Groundnut remains one of India’s key agricultural export commodities, with demand from food-processing industries and consumers in several international markets. Sesame seeds have also maintained strong export interest due to their use in food products, bakery items, edible oils and processed foods.

Exporters are benefiting from demand for Indian-origin oilseeds, while quality, availability and competitive pricing remain important factors in determining overseas shipments. Changes in global supply and prices are also influencing buying patterns across major importing markets.

India’s oilseed export performance is closely linked to domestic production, crop availability and international demand. Fluctuations in freight costs, currency movements and global commodity prices can further affect exporters’ competitiveness.

With groundnut and sesame accounting for a significant share of India’s oilseed trade, exporters are looking to expand shipments by strengthening market access and increasing value-added processing. Continued demand from overseas buyers could support the sector, provided domestic supplies remain adequate and Indian products remain competitively priced.
