Kalmar has completed a repair project for a ship-to-shore (STS) crane leg at the Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal (NSFT) in Mumbai, India, operated under the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA).
The order was recorded in Kalmar’s Q2 2024 intake, with repairs finalised in January 2025.
Kalmar was contracted to carry out repairs on the leg of an STS crane at NSFT as part of its modernisation services.
JNPA, a government-operated port, handles about half of the containerised cargo at India’s major ports. NSFT is managed through a joint venture between JM Baxi and CMA under a 30-year container-handling licence.
Milind Chimote, Deputy General Manager, JNPA said: ”Reusing and refurbishing existing equipment is a sustainable choice, and the critical role played by this equipment means that it is essential to bring it back to full, safe working order as soon as possible.”
Alejandro Martinez, Business Head of India, Middle East & Africa, Managing Director Kalmar Maghreb, stated: ”This project has demonstrated the importance of clear communication, adherence to legal requirements and remaining focused on the customer achieving a successful outcome.”
In April, Kalmar announced it would relocate and outsource its Genuine Parts warehouse from Ottawa, Kansas, to Greenwood, Indiana.
