Cargo operations at Khalifa Bin Salman Port have been temporarily suspended, authorities confirmed, as precautionary measures are implemented amid heightened regional tensions.
Port officials said the suspension affects container and general cargo handling activities at the key maritime gateway serving Manama and the wider economy of Bahrain. The move is aimed at ensuring the safety of port personnel, vessels, and cargo while monitoring the evolving security situation in the Gulf region.
Shipping lines and logistics operators have been advised to delay vessel arrivals and coordinate closely with port authorities for updated operational guidance. Several carriers are reportedly reviewing their schedules and may temporarily divert shipments to alternative regional ports until normal operations resume.
APM Terminals, which operates the container terminal at the port, is working with government authorities and maritime stakeholders to manage vessel movements and minimize disruptions to supply chains.
Industry sources say the suspension could briefly impact regional cargo flows, particularly shipments transiting through Bahrain to neighboring Gulf markets. However, officials indicated that operations would resume once conditions are assessed as safe and stable.
