Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal (NSFT) has achieved a significant milestone in its rail connectivity journey with the arrival of its first-ever double-stack container train from ICD Tumb on 13 July 2026.
The inaugural train transported 180 TEUs, marking an important development in strengthening rail-based cargo movement between inland container depots and the terminal. The successful movement is expected to enhance multimodal logistics efficiency, improve cargo evacuation, and support faster, more sustainable supply chain operations.
The introduction of double-stack rail services underscores NSFT’s continued efforts to expand its hinterland connectivity and provide customers with cost-effective and environmentally friendly transportation solutions. By strengthening rail links with inland cargo hubs, the terminal aims to reduce dependence on road transport while improving cargo handling efficiency and transit times.
The milestone also aligns with India’s broader vision of promoting multimodal logistics and increasing the share of rail transport in container movement to support growing EXIM trade.
As trade volumes continue to rise and logistics requirements evolve, NSFT remains committed to investing in enhanced infrastructure and connectivity solutions that facilitate seamless cargo movement across the country’s logistics network.
The arrival of the first double-stack container train from ICD Tumb reinforces NSFT’s role as a key gateway for India’s international trade and highlights its focus on delivering integrated, efficient, and sustainable logistics solutions.
