    Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday marked National Maritime Day by underscoring India’s rich maritime heritage and the sector’s vital role in driving the country’s economy, trade, and connectivity.

    In a message shared on social media, the Prime Minister acknowledged the contributions of individuals associated with the maritime industry, noting that their continued efforts are strengthening India’s economic and logistical framework.

    “On National Maritime Day, we recall India’s maritime heritage and the invaluable contribution of all those associated with this sector. Their dedication strengthens our economy, trade and connectivity,” he said.

    Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the sector, Modi added that India will continue to harness the immense potential of its maritime domain to support future growth and prosperity.

    Observed annually, National Maritime Day recognises the significance of maritime trade and honours the contributions of seafarers and stakeholders across the industry.
