The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Samarth Verma, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 2011 batch from the Odisha cadre, as Director in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, New Delhi.

An official order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) states that Verma will serve under the Central Staffing Scheme for a tenure of five years from the date he assumes charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever comes first.

Verma has been directed to be relieved of his current responsibilities immediately to enable him to take up the new assignment in the Ministry.

This appointment underscores the government’s continued focus on strengthening leadership in key sectors of India’s maritime and shipping infrastructure.
