VOC Port has achieved a major milestone in its sustainability journey by generating a record 16,23,461 units of renewable energy in July 2025, marking its highest-ever monthly output. This performance breaks the previous record of 15,30,614 units generated in June 2025, showcasing a consistent upward trend in green energy adoption at the Port.

According to Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson of VOC Port, renewable energy is sourced from a mix of wind and solar power projects installed by the Port, both within its premises and through dedicated off-site facilities. The steady rise in output underscores the efficiency of these projects and the Port’s commitment to maximizing clean energy utilization for its operations.

Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, said, “Crossing 1.6 million units in a single month reflects our strong focus on energy transition. Our efforts are aligned with the national vision of achieving net-zero targets, and we are determined to further expand renewable capacity to meet a greater share of our energy requirements.”

The achievement not only reduces the Port’s dependency on conventional energy sources but also significantly cuts down its carbon footprint, reinforcing its position as a frontrunner in green port initiatives across India.

Going forward, VOC Port plans to scale up its renewable energy capacity by adding more solar rooftop systems, exploring offshore wind opportunities, and integrating smart energy management systems. These initiatives are expected to further boost sustainable operations and set new benchmarks for the maritime sector.
