Maersk has announced the resumption of vessel calls to the Port of Haifa following a period of suspension due to heightened tensions in the Middle East.

Maersk hadtemporarily suspended vessel calls and cargo acceptance at the Port of Haifa, citing security concerns amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran. The new decision comes as hopes rise for de-escalation in the region.

As per the company’s statement, “With the prospect of the current cease-fire agreement  bringing de-escalation to the conflict, we have decided to resume vessel calls to the Port of Haifa, and acceptance for both import and export cargo is now open.

“We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will be ready to make changes if safety concerns reappear.”

As of 25 June 2025, Maersk has reopened acceptance for import cargo to Haifa. Regular vessel calls to the port are scheduled to resume from 30 June.

Maersk confirmed that “the situation and operations at the Port of Ashdod remain unchanged, though we continue to monitor the latest developments and maritime advisories.”

Maersk emphasised that the safety of crews and operations remains a top priority.

Security risks persist for ships in the Strait of Hormuz with GPS jamming incidents stifling transits through the key waterway, despite a tentative ceasefire between Israel and Iran.
