DP World has delivered SailGP’s F50 catamarans to Southampton, marking the league’s first UK return in three years.

The Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix is set to begin in Portsmouth on 19 July. The delivery arrived at DP World Southampton, which is aiming to become the UK’s first net-zero port.

The terminal now uses HVO fuel for all equipment, cutting emissions by over 80 per cent.

Mark Rosenberg, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Ports and Terminals, DP World, said: “It’s a privilege to play a key role in helping SailGP deliver a truly global race calendar, with our Port of Southampton setting a powerful example of how modern logistics can evolve. Our target of net zero emissions really underlines our enthusiasm for progress and innovation.”

Following their arrival in Southampton, the fleet and equipment were transferred to Portsmouth in preparation for the race.

Recently, DP World reduced transit times between Romania and Turkey by 50 per cent, following upgrades to its Black Sea operations. According to Reuters, the company has increased container capacity at Constanța Port, Romania’s largest on the Black Sea, through the addition of a RoRo terminal and a logistics hub in western Romania.
