Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has on Monday directed the officials to establish a logistics corporation to facilitate cargo movement.

The proposed corporation should be the nodal agency for shipment of cargo through the ports, airports, inland waterways, road and railways, the Chief Minister said in a review meeting on infrastructural facilities in Amaravati.

Plans were currently underway to set up 20 new ports and airports in the State, Naidu said, satellite townships should be developed around ports and airports which would act as hubs of economic activity.

Some corporates had come forward to establish shipbuilding units in Machilipatnam, Mulapeta and China Ganjam, according to the Chief Minister.

Stating that the Centre had “no death of funds’‘ for railway and national highway projects, Naid directed the officials to prepare proposals to be sent to the Centre for approval to hasten economic development of different regions.
