Incheon Port Authority (IPA) is expanding its maritime network to India and Indonesia as global supply chains diversify away from China. The port has launched its first direct container service to India, the Far East‑India Express (FIE), aiming to tap into growing trade between South Korea and these emerging markets.

This strategic shift comes as companies increasingly adopt the “China +1” sourcing approach, seeking to reduce reliance on Chinese manufacturing and logistics hubs. By establishing direct links to India and Indonesia, Incheon Port is positioning itself as a central hub in the evolving Asian trade landscape, diversifying its traffic portfolio, and strengthening resilience against regional risks.

The FIE service is expected to improve connectivity with key Indian ports, facilitating smoother trade flows and supporting regional economic growth. Incheon’s move highlights the port’s proactive approach to adapting to changing trade dynamics and its commitment to capturing opportunities in the rapidly growing markets of India and Indonesia.
