Godrej Enterprises Group (GEG) has inaugurated a dedicated forklift training centre in Pune, aiming to address the growing demand for skilled and safety-trained material handling operators as India’s logistics and warehousing networks continue to expand.

The 2,000 sq. ft. facility, launched by RenTRUST—the rental arm of GEG’s Material Handling Equipment (MHE) business—is located in Bhosari, a key industrial hub supporting manufacturing and logistics clusters around Pune. The centre is designed to create a steady pipeline of certified forklift operators for factories, warehouses and logistics hubs facing rising operational scale and safety pressures.

The training programme combines classroom learning, safety modules and hands-on practical sessions, culminating in operator certification aligned with shop-floor, warehouse and regulatory compliance requirements. The facility has the capacity to train and certify over 45 candidates each month.

The initiative builds on GEG’s ongoing skill development efforts in the material handling segment. To date, the MHE business has trained and certified more than 3,500 forklift operators and plans to upskill an additional 500 operators by FY26.

Commenting on the launch, Anil Lingayat, Business Head, Material Handling Equipment business, Godrej Enterprises Group, said India’s manufacturing and logistics sectors are scaling at an unprecedented pace, but sustainable growth depends on skilled, safety-trained manpower. He noted that the Pune training centre aims to create job-ready operators with a strong focus on safety, compliance and productivity, strengthening the country’s industrial ecosystem.

In a move to encourage wider participation, the programme offers a 50 per cent training fee concession for women candidates, addressing labour availability challenges in warehouses and distribution centres as throughput volumes increase.

RenTRUST, which operates a large rental fleet of material handling equipment, said the training centre will also support customers by improving operator availability and reducing safety risks at operational sites. As India advances its manufacturing and supply chain ambitions, access to certified forklift operators is increasingly emerging as a key factor influencing warehouse efficiency, uptime and safety performance.
