Greek-operated vessels form a significant portion of the global shipping fleet, illustrating their critical role in the Black Sea’s trade networks. The region’s waters are critical for several nations, including Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Turkey, Russia, and Ukraine, where tensions continue to rise.
Affected ships, such as the Matilda managed by Greece’s Thenamaris, have implemented stricter security protocols and advised crews to minimize exposure, particularly on deck. The Greek ministry also referred shipping companies to previously issued guidelines for ports at increased risk.
