Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced revised freight-all-kinds (FAK) rates for shipments moving from the Far East to Sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean region, reflecting ongoing adjustments in line with market conditions.

The updated rates will apply to a range of containerised cargo and are expected to come into effect in the coming weeks, subject to local regulations and contract terms. Industry sources said the revision is aimed at aligning pricing with capacity deployment, operating costs, and demand trends on these southbound trade lanes.

Trade routes linking Asia with African and Indian Ocean markets have seen fluctuating volumes, influenced by shifting sourcing patterns, port congestion, and changes in vessel deployment. Carriers have increasingly relied on FAK adjustments to manage yield and maintain service sustainability amid continued volatility in global container markets.

MSC advised customers to consult local offices or official tariffs for detailed rate levels, effective dates, and applicable surcharges. The carrier said it remains focused on providing reliable services and flexible solutions for shippers trading between the Far East, Africa, and the Indian Ocean region.
