A steady stream of containerized para-boiled rice is being efficiently transported from Nagalapalli in Telangana to Gandhidham in Gujarat, showcasing the growing strength of India’s integrated rail logistics network led by Container Corporation of India Limited.
The movement, averaging around 90 TEUs (approximately 2,500 metric tonnes), originates from key rice-producing districts such as Nizamabad, Medak, and Sangareddy. The cargo is first stuffed into domestic containers at rice mills before being consolidated at the CONCOR terminal in Nagalapalli. From there, it is transported via rail to Gandhidham for further export processing.
The consignments are ultimately routed through Kandla Port, one of India’s major gateways on the western coast, for shipment to markets in the Middle East.
This end-to-end logistics solution has enabled seamless and damage-free transportation of agri-commodities through standardized container systems. It also supports efficient aggregation of cargo from multiple sourcing points into streamlined rail flows, ensuring reliability and operational efficiency.
Industry stakeholders note that the initiative is significantly improving connectivity between South India’s production clusters and North-West export hubs. By offering faster transit times and predictable delivery schedules, it is enhancing market access for rice exporters in Telangana.
The continuous pipeline of container movement between Telangana and Gujarat is not only boosting export efficiency but also strengthening the integration of domestic agricultural supply chains with global trade routes, reinforcing India’s agri-logistics ecosystem.
