The container vessel CMA CGM EUGENIE has made history by becoming the largest container ship ever to call at the Port of Tripoli, marking a significant milestone for Lebanon’s maritime sector. The vessel, measuring 366 metres in length with a capacity of approximately 15,000 TEUs, completed its maiden call at the CMA CGM-operated terminal in Tripoli.

The record-breaking call demonstrates the port’s growing capability to handle ultra-large container vessels and strengthens its role within Eastern Mediterranean trade networks. Port authorities said the successful operation highlights the terminal’s infrastructure readiness and operational efficiency, positioning Tripoli as an increasingly important regional logistics hub.

Industry observers believe the milestone could pave the way for improved shipping connectivity, higher transshipment volumes, enhanced schedule reliability, and stronger regional trade flows. The achievement also underscores CMA CGM’s long-term commitment to Lebanon and reinforces the strategic importance of its Tripoli terminal in serving regional and international supply chains.
