PSA India, in partnership with Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR), has launched a new 2,000-km rail corridor connecting Mumbai and Kolkata through PSA Mumbai, marking a significant step towards strengthening India’s multimodal logistics network.

The new service is designed to facilitate seamless cargo movement between two of the country’s key economic centres while enhancing hinterland connectivity and improving overall supply chain efficiency for customers.

Leveraging PSA Mumbai’s advanced rail infrastructure and Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC)-ready connectivity, the corridor is expected to shift more freight from road to rail, reducing transit bottlenecks, lowering road dependency, and supporting more sustainable logistics operations.

The initiative aligns with India’s broader objective of promoting rail-led freight transportation and developing an integrated, multimodal logistics ecosystem. By providing a reliable long-distance rail link, the service is expected to improve cargo evacuation from ports, enhance connectivity with inland markets, and offer customers a more efficient and environmentally friendly transportation option.

The Mumbai–Kolkata rail connection further strengthens PSA India’s role in facilitating end-to-end logistics solutions and supporting the country’s growing containerised trade.
