Da Nang has approved a $237 million investment for the development of Lien Chieu Port, marking a major step in efforts to strengthen the city’s maritime infrastructure and expand its role as a regional logistics hub.
The project is expected to improve the capacity and efficiency of Lien Chieu Port while supporting the growing trade and logistics requirements of central Vietnam. The development will also help strengthen connections between the region’s industrial centres and international shipping markets.
Lien Chieu is being developed as a key deep-water port for Da Nang, with the potential to handle larger vessels and support increased container and general cargo volumes. Its development is expected to reduce pressure on existing port facilities and provide additional capacity for future trade growth.
The investment is also expected to improve the wider logistics network around Da Nang. Better port infrastructure can support road and rail connectivity, facilitate cargo movement and improve access to international supply chains for businesses in central Vietnam.
The project forms part of broader efforts to position Da Nang as an important logistics and transportation centre. The city’s strategic location along Vietnam’s central coast gives it access to domestic markets as well as major maritime trade routes.
The new investment could also encourage additional industrial and logistics activity around the port. Improved maritime infrastructure is expected to make the region more attractive for businesses involved in manufacturing, trade, warehousing and distribution.
With the project now approved, attention will turn to implementation, construction and the development of supporting infrastructure.
