Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), in collaboration with Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), Indian Railways and Customs, has facilitated the first GS-17 Block Container Loading System (BLCS) rake from DICD Ludhiana to ICDD Dadri, carrying export containers destined for JNPA.
The new rail movement marks an important step towards strengthening the port’s hinterland connectivity and enhancing the efficiency of export cargo movement from northern India to the gateway port.
The initiative is expected to improve cargo predictability, reliability and supply chain efficiency, while encouraging a greater shift of export cargo from road to rail. By providing an integrated rail-linked logistics solution, the movement can help streamline cargo flows and reduce dependence on road transportation.
The collaboration between JNPA, CONCOR, Indian Railways and Customs also underlines the importance of coordinated multimodal logistics in supporting India’s growing export trade.
The new service further strengthens JNPA’s multimodal network and its connectivity with key inland cargo hubs, supporting more seamless movement of export cargo from the hinterland to the port.
