APM Terminals Pipavav, in collaboration with Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR), has flagged off its first Double-Stack Python Block Rake to ICD Dadri, marking a significant milestone in rail freight operations. The inaugural rake was flagged off on 16 September 2026.
The weekly import block train to Dadri has been upgraded to a double-stack Python configuration, enabling significantly higher cargo volumes in a single movement. The inaugural service carried 338 TEUs over approximately 1,200 km, improving container consolidation, reliability and operational efficiency.
According to APM Terminals Pipavav, the movement is the first Python rake planned and executed by a port for a single shipping line, involving close coordination among Maersk India, CONCOR, Indian Railways and other partners.
The initiative leverages the capacity of the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) and Indian Railways infrastructure to support high-capacity intermodal transportation and facilitate more efficient movement of import containers from Pipavav to the northern hinterland.
