Bangladesh is seeking reduced trade barriers in India, including the removal of anti-dumping duties, to improve market access for its exporters and facilitate bilateral trade.

The issue highlights Bangladesh’s concerns over trade restrictions that can increase costs and limit the competitiveness of its products in the Indian market. Dhaka is seeking measures that would make cross-border commerce easier and create better opportunities for Bangladeshi businesses.

India and Bangladesh share extensive trade ties, with bilateral commerce covering a range of goods, including textiles, agricultural products, engineering goods and other manufactured items. Changes to trade policies could affect exporters, importers and supply chains in both countries.

Bangladesh raised these demands at the 16th meeting of the Bangladesh–India Joint Working Group on Trade, held in New Delhi on October 8–9, 2026. The discussions also covered land-port infrastructure, customs procedures and regional freight connectivity.
