LATAM Cargo is introducing virtual reality (VR) technology to train warehouse employees, strengthening its focus on operational efficiency, workplace safety and staff development.

The technology enables employees to experience simulated warehouse environments and practise operational procedures in a controlled setting. Through immersive training, staff can familiarise themselves with cargo-handling processes, equipment operations and safety protocols without the risks associated with practising directly in live warehouse operations.

The use of VR can help improve employee engagement, standardise training procedures and prepare workers for real-world challenges. It also offers opportunities to repeat training scenarios, assess employee performance and reinforce safe working practices.

For air cargo operations, where accurate handling, efficient workflows and safety compliance are essential, technology-based training can support workforce readiness and operational consistency.

LATAM Cargo’s initiative reflects the growing adoption of digital technologies across the logistics industry. As air freight operators seek to improve productivity and safety, immersive learning tools are emerging as an additional option for developing skilled warehouse teams.

The initiative highlights how technology is increasingly being used not only to improve cargo operations but also to modernise employee training across the global air freight sector.

The programme follows LATAM’s broader efforts to use virtual simulation for operational safety and training efficiency. The company’s 2025 integrated report noted that its VR-based forklift training initiative helped optimise training time by up to 20%.
