Global logistics major DHL is prioritising organic growth in India, banking on the country’s expanding logistics market, rising manufacturing activity and growing international trade to strengthen its operations rather than relying primarily on acquisitions.

The company’s strategy focuses on expanding its existing infrastructure, improving operational efficiency and developing capabilities across express delivery, freight forwarding, contract logistics and e-commerce. India’s growing role in global supply chains and the diversification of international trade are creating opportunities for logistics providers to expand their services.

DHL has been strengthening its Indian operations through investments in warehousing, technology, automation and specialised logistics infrastructure. The group’s broader investment programme announced in November 2025 envisaged an investment of around €1 billion across its Indian businesses between 2026 and 2030, targeting sectors including healthcare and life sciences, new energy, e-commerce and digitalisation.

The company’s established presence through DHL Express, DHL Global Forwarding, DHL Supply Chain and Blue Dart provides a broad platform to serve domestic and international customers. Its expansion strategy also seeks to capture growing demand from manufacturers, exporters, small and medium-sized enterprises and e-commerce businesses.

India’s improving infrastructure, expanding export base and increasing integration with global markets are expected to support long-term demand for logistics services. DHL’s approach places emphasis on building capacity and strengthening its existing network to capitalise on these opportunities.
