CMA Terminals, a subsidiary of the CMA CGM Group, has completed the acquisition of a 49% stake in Nador Container Terminal (NCT), the concessionaire responsible for the western container terminal at Morocco’s Nador West Med port.

The transaction was finalised following approval from the relevant regulatory authorities, formalising the ownership structure for the development and operation of the new container terminal.

Under the agreement, Moroccan port operator Marsa Maroc retains a controlling 51% stake in Nador Container Terminal, including voting rights, while CMA Terminals holds the remaining 49%. The transaction completes the partnership agreement signed between the two companies in October 2025.

The western container terminal at Nador West Med is scheduled to commence operations in 2027, with a planned annual handling capacity of 1.8 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).

The facility will feature 900 metres of quay length, a water depth of up to 18 metres, and a container yard covering 37.5 hectares. These specifications are designed to support container handling operations and accommodate larger vessels.

The completion of the acquisition marks a significant step in CMA Terminals’ participation in Morocco’s port infrastructure development, strengthening its partnership with Marsa Maroc in preparation for the terminal’s planned commissioning.

Once operational, the terminal is expected to contribute to the development of Nador West Med as a strategic maritime gateway, enhancing Morocco’s container-handling capabilities and supporting the country’s integration into international shipping and logistics networks.
