Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) will introduce an Emergency Operations Surcharge (EOS) on shipments originating from Greece, Türkiye, the Black Sea and non-Italian Adriatic ports, with the measure applying to cargo destined for Northwest Continental Europe, the United Kingdom and the ScanBaltic region.

The surcharge will take effect from November 1, 2026, based on the bill of lading date, and will remain in place until further notice.

Under the new tariff, MSC will levy US$200, €200 or £200 per container, depending on the applicable trade and payment arrangements.

According to the carrier, the surcharge is intended to cover additional costs arising from the prevailing market conditions and operational environment. The measure will help support the continued operation of MSC’s direct services connecting the Eastern Mediterranean with Northern Europe.

    MSC Revises Main Service Rotation

Alongside the surcharge, MSC will revise the port rotation of its main service linking Northern Europe with Greece and Türkiye.

    The revised rotation will be:

    Le Havre – Antwerp – Felixstowe – Vigo – Sines – Piraeus – Gemlik – Tekirdag – Aliaga – Sines – Le Havre

MSC said the revised rotation is designed to improve schedule reliability and reduce vessel turnaround times while maintaining direct connections between Northern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean.

The changes come as the carrier adjusts its commercial and operational arrangements in response to the prevailing shipping market conditions.

Shippers, exporters, importers and freight forwarders using the affected trade lanes are advised to review the revised surcharge arrangements and service rotation when planning upcoming shipments.
