Cochin International Airport Ltd (Cial) is all set to award Rs 700 crore for international terminal expansion project. The work is expected to begin in Dec. Once the project is complete, the number of aircraft which can be berthed at the terminal will go up to 44 from 36.

“The terminal will feature an exquisite array of diverse retail emporiums and opulent lounge areas ensuring a superlative standard of service.

Highlight of the project is a new apron, sprawling over 15 lakh sq ft on the northern flank, accompanied by a terminal expansion spanning 5 lakh sq ft,” said an official.

“Work on the apron is nearing completion,” the official said. Cial had designed seven mega development projects last year. Of these, a luxury aero lounge with accommodation facilities was launched last month. In Oct 2023, Digi Yatra initiative, which provides fast security check in, was inaugurated.
