    Pilbara Ports has achieved a total monthly throughput of 66.3 million tonnes (Mt) in September 2024.

    This is a 10 per cent increase above the overall monthly throughput in September 2023.

    The Port of Port Hedland recorded a monthly throughput of 49.8 Mt, with iron ore exports accounting for 48.8 Mt.

    This is a 9 per cent increase above the overall monthly throughput in September 2023.

    Imports through the Port of Port Hedland were 224,131 tonnes, representing a 24 per cent increase over September 2023.

    The Port of Dampier achieved a total throughput of 15 Mt, a 9 per cent increase from September 2023.

    Imports through the Port of Dampier reached 143,845 tonnes, a 24 per cent increase from September 2023.

    The port noted that several variables impact the variability of throughput, including market circumstances, port maintenance operations, and proponent requirements.

    In September, Pilbara Ports announced that the new integrated Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) Centre at the Port of Dampier has officially opened.
