Amazon India has announced plans to invest Rs 2,800 crore to strengthen worker welfare initiatives and expand its delivery and logistics network across the country.
The investment is expected to support improvements in employee safety, healthcare access, financial wellbeing programmes, and skill development for workers across fulfilment centres, sorting hubs, and delivery operations.
A significant portion of the funding will also be directed toward enhancing delivery infrastructure, including last-mile capabilities, technology upgrades, and network capacity to meet growing e-commerce demand.
Industry observers say the move reflects Amazon India’s continued focus on operational efficiency and workforce support as competition intensifies in the domestic online retail market.
The expansion is likely to improve delivery speed, service reliability, and reach across urban as well as semi-urban markets, while generating additional employment opportunities in logistics and support services.
The investment aligns with the broader growth of India’s e-commerce sector, where companies are increasingly prioritising supply chain resilience, customer experience, and worker welfare.
