Amazon is ramping up its AI-driven logistics with new advancements in warehouse robotics, delivery mapping, and predictive inventory management. As reported by Reuters, the e-commerce major announced that its Lab126 device unit is developing multi-tasking warehouse robots powered by agentic AI, a technology that enables machines to make autonomous decisions and perform multiple tasks without human intervention. Unlike current robots designed for single jobs, these new machines will be capable of performing a variety of tasks, such as unloading trailers and retrieving parts for repairs, responding to natural language commands. The company also said that the new AI use would enable Amazon to minimise water and also cut carbon emissions.

    Amazon’s new warehouse robots
As per Reuters, the new warehouse robots of Amazon will be capable of unloading trailers, retrieving parts for repairs, and optimizing storage. The company believes these AI-driven systems will be critical during peak demand periods, such as the holiday season, by reducing manual labor and improving efficiency.

“We’re creating systems that can hear, understand and act on natural language commands, turning warehouse robots into flexible, multi-talented assistants,” Amazon said.

Amazon using generative AI fro smarter delivery mapping
Amazon is also leveraging generative AI to create detailed delivery maps, helping drivers navigate complex locations like large office buildings and apartment complexes. The AI will provide precise building shapes, obstacles, and optimized drop-off points, making deliveries faster and more accurate.

Apart from logistics, Amazon is also using AI to predict customer demand and optimize same-day delivery operations. The system will analyze weather patterns, pricing trends, and sales events to ensure efficient product stocking across warehouses.

Along with this, the e-commerce major is also developing screen-embedded smart glasses for delivery drivers, allowing them to receive turn-by-turn directions hands-free.
