Misrata Free Zone (MFZ) reported yesterday that a specialised team from the Belgian port of Antwerp in Bruges, the second largest port in Europe, began a field visit to the MFZ port.
The visit aims to evaluate the equipment and safety procedures followed, in preparation for the establishment of an integrated plant for the treatment of bulk liquid goods.
MFZ said the visit will focus on studying the possibilities of connecting the berths with the area allocated for the project, and developing a safe and efficient operating model, in accordance with international best practices, with strict adherence to environmental safety standards.
The project, MFZ added, aims to build a sustainable logistics system that contributes to the development of port services and enhances the added economic value to support the national economy.
Exchange of visits and signing of 2023 MoU
It will be recalled that a MFZ delegation had visited Antwerp Port in December 2024. Meanwhile, in November 2023, a memorandum of understanding was signed between MFZ and the Port of Antwerp on the sidelines of the North Africa International Conference and Exhibition for Ports and Free Zones (November 2023).
During this, experts from the Port of Antwerp visited MFZ to review and evaluate the Smart Gate Systems and the entry and exit movements at the MFZ Port.
