Chhattisgarh has achieved a significant milestone by flagging off the country’s largest-ever copper concentrate export to China — a landmark development that cements the state’s position as a rising hub in India’s logistics and industrial landscape.

A mega consignment of 12,000 metric tonnes (MT) of copper concentrate was dispatched from the Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) at Nava Raipur, scripting a new chapter in India’s trade and industrial growth. The first rake carrying 2,200 MT departed for Visakhapatnam Port on November 11, from where the shipment will be exported to China.

Developed under the Department of Industries, the Nava Raipur MMLP is fast emerging as Central India’s gateway to global markets. The facility is equipped with advanced cargo-handling systems, integrated rail connectivity, and cost-effective multimodal operations — enabling industries across the region to seamlessly access international markets.

Chhattisgarh continues to play a vital role in India’s mineral economy, with copper and tin forming the cornerstone of its mining strength. Notably, the state holds the unique distinction of being the sole producer of tin in India, accounting for 100% of the country’s tin output and about 35.83% of total tin ore reserves. With an estimated 30 million tonnes of tin deposits, primarily located in Dantewada and Sukma districts, Chhattisgarh serves as a critical supplier for industries dependent on this essential mineral.

Tin plays a pivotal role in electronics, defence manufacturing, solar panels, and high-tech industries, making Chhattisgarh’s contribution vital to advancing modern technologies.

Over the past 25 years, the state’s mining sector has witnessed remarkable growth. When Chhattisgarh was formed in November 2000, its mineral revenue stood at just ₹429 crore — a figure that has now surged to ₹14,592 crore, representing a 34-fold increase.

To further accelerate this growth, the state government has launched the Chhattisgarh State Logistics Policy 2025, a comprehensive roadmap to transform Chhattisgarh into India’s leading logistics hub by 2047. The policy emphasizes modern multimodal infrastructure, export promotion, private sector participation, and large-scale job creation through balanced regional development.

“The dispatch of Chhattisgarh’s largest copper export consignment is not just a commercial event — it is a powerful stride toward an Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India),” said Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, lauding the achievement.

A government spokesperson added that the milestone reinforces Chhattisgarh’s image as one of India’s most efficient and strategically located trade and logistics hubs, reflecting the state’s growing importance in driving national economic growth.
