Leading container shipping company CMA CGM has commenced regular port calls at Asyad Container Terminal (ACT) in Duqm, Oman. CMA CGM’s decision to include the Port of Duqm in its global service network marks a significant milestone for the developing port, which is strategically located at the heart of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD).

The addition of Duqm to CMA CGM’s service portfolio enhances the port’s connectivity and reinforces its position as a maritime and logistics hub on Oman’s Indian Ocean coast. The move is expected to generate new trade flows, support supply chain resilience and attract further shipping lines and cargo owners to the port.

Omar Al Mahrizi, CEO of Asyad Ports and Freezones, said: “CMA CGM’s decision to include Duqm in its service network is a strong endorsement of the terminal’s reliability and efficiency. This partnership expands Duqm’s global reach, unlocks opportunities for exporters and importers, and supports the growth of key economic sectors.”

The new CMA CGM service has been specifically designed to meet the requirements of Oman’s fisheries sector, with a strong focus on the use of refrigerated containers to support temperature-controlled cargo. According to Thiashen Govender, General Manager, CMA CGM Oman, “Our partnership with Ocean Fisheries and the deployment of the Ocean Fresh container vessel underscores our commitment to connecting emerging markets with reliable, high-quality transport options. This new call is expected to enhance Ocean Fisheries’ export capabilities and enables the company to deliver high-quality Omani seafood to international markets more efficiently.”

By supporting key export-driven industries such as fisheries and strengthening international shipping connectivity, CMA CGM’s regular calls at Duqm are expected to play an important role in advancing the port’s long-term development and reinforcing Oman’s position within global maritime trade routes.
