Haldia Dock Complex (HDC) under Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata, has reported a robust container handling performance for January–November 2025, showcasing strong operational resilience and a clear upward growth trajectory.

The year began on a promising note, with January handling 20,113 TEUs, setting an early benchmark. Although volumes softened in April to 12,545 TEUs—the lowest point of the year—the port staged a steady recovery from May onward, driven by improved operational efficiency, stronger cargo flows and enhanced service reliability.

September 2025 marked a major milestone as HDC surpassed its January performance to handle 20,627 TEUs, becoming the first record-breaking month of the year. After a marginal dip in October, the port delivered a historic feat in November, clocking 21,691 TEUs—its highest-ever monthly container throughput.

With two record-setting months—September and November—2025 has reinforced HDC’s status as a scalable and dependable logistics hub on India’s eastern seaboard. The sustained growth highlights the port’s infrastructure readiness, productivity gains and rising confidence from shipping lines and trade partners.

Industry observers note that HDC’s performance not only reflects increasing cargo volumes but also positions the port for stronger competitiveness in the regional maritime landscape.
