Chilean ports handled a total of 115 million tonnes of cargo in 2025, reflecting steady trade flows and the continued importance of the country’s port network to regional and global supply chains.
Port authorities said the throughput was supported by strong movements of bulk commodities, containerised cargo and liquid bulk, with mining exports, agricultural products and energy-related shipments accounting for a significant share of volumes. Chile’s ports play a critical role in connecting South America’s Pacific coast to Asia, North America and Europe.
Industry officials noted that operational improvements, infrastructure upgrades and better hinterland connectivity helped ports manage volumes efficiently despite global trade uncertainties. Investments in digitalisation and terminal modernisation also contributed to improved cargo handling performance.
Looking ahead, port operators are focusing on capacity expansion, sustainability initiatives and multimodal integration to support future trade growth and maintain competitiveness.
