Yang Ming Line (YML) has officially named its first two 15,500 TEU LNG-powered dual-fuel vessels, marking a major step in the company’s commitment to greener and more sustainable shipping operations.

The new ships are equipped with dual-fuel engines capable of running on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and conventional marine fuel, significantly reducing sulfur oxide (SOx) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, while lowering overall carbon footprint. YML said the vessels are part of its broader fleet modernization program, aimed at enhancing efficiency and complying with increasingly stringent global environmental regulations.

Industry experts noted that the addition of these LNG dual-fuel ships aligns with shipping companies’ efforts to decarbonize container operations and meet targets under the International Maritime Organization (IMO) emissions reduction frameworks. The 15,500 TEU capacity makes them suitable for major deep-sea trade routes, supporting high-volume cargo transport with reduced environmental impact.

YML officials added that the vessels are expected to enter service shortly, providing reliable, large-scale container shipping while reinforcing the company’s sustainability and operational efficiency goals.
