Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that India is on track to become the world’s third-largest economy by 2027, underscoring the country’s rapid economic growth and expanding global footprint.

Addressing the Youth Business Summit at Vishwa Umiya Dham in Ahmedabad, Mr Shah said India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has reached $4.19 trillion and is poised to cross the $5 trillion mark in the near future.

Highlighting India’s leadership in digital payments, he noted that during 2024–25, nearly 50 per cent of the world’s digital financial transactions were carried out in India, reflecting the success of the country’s digital public infrastructure.

Later in the day, Mr Shah attended ‘Namotsav’, a cultural programme based on the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, held at Godhavi in Ahmedabad.

Earlier, addressing the IMA Netcon 2025, organised by the Indian Medical Association in Ahmedabad, the Home Minister said that the country’s health infrastructure is being developed with a holistic and integrated approach, aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery across urban and rural areas.

Mr Shah also inaugurated development projects worth ₹330 crore at Nava Vanjar, in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and distributed certificates to rehabilitated residents of the village.
