The Indian Railways continues to play a pivotal role in the nation’s development, and recent inauguration New Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Nagar-New Bhaupur Dedicated Freight Corridor Project highlights its commitment to enhancing connectivity and fostering economic growth.

The inauguration of the New Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Nagar-New Bhaupur Dedicated Freight Corridor Project marks a major milestone in India’s railway infrastructure. The freight corridor was among the notable projects unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi on Monday.

This dedicated corridor is strategically designed to streamline freight transportation, ensuring efficient movement of goods across the country. With a substantial investment of Rs 10,900 crore, the project is a testament to the government’s commitment to modernising rail networks.

PM Modi on December 18 laid the foundation stone and inaugurated a slew of transformative development projects collectively valued at over Rs 19,150 crores. Among the significant initiatives was the flagging off various trains, including the Varanasi-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express, Dohrighat-Mau MEMU train, and a pair of Long Haul goods trains on the newly inaugurated Dedicated Freight Corridor.

Additionally, PM Modi marked the symbolic 10,000th locomotive made by Banaras Locomotive Works and inaugurated infrastructure projects such as the green-field Shivpur-Phulwaria-Lahartara road, two ROBs, road strengthening, and widening initiatives, among others.

Other projects were the commencement of an 800 MW solar park in Chitrakoot district, with a budget exceeding Rs 4000 crores. Another notable venture is the new petroleum oil terminal in Mirzapur, set to be constructed at a cost surpassing Rs 1050 crores, contributing to the energy infrastructure of the region.

The widening of Varanasi-Bhadohi NH 731 B (Package-2), an ambitious undertaking with a budget of over Rs 900 crores. Furthermore, the launch of 69 rural drinking water schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission, involving an investment of Rs 280 crores.
