Lloyd’s Register has brought Marlink into its digital research programme following Digital Maturity Indicator (DMI) assessments conducted across 50 shipowning companies. The collaboration aims to accelerate digital transformation in the maritime sector by improving connectivity, operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making.
The programme focuses on evaluating how shipping companies adopt digital technologies, cybersecurity systems and connected maritime solutions to enhance vessel performance and operational resilience. Through the partnership, Marlink is expected to contribute expertise in satellite communications, smart vessel connectivity and digital infrastructure for shipping operations.
Industry stakeholders said the initiative reflects growing demand for advanced digitalisation across the global maritime industry as shipowners increasingly invest in automation, predictive maintenance and real-time operational monitoring. The research programme is also expected to support development of best practices for digital adoption and sustainable maritime operations.
