Global shipping giant MSC has launched a new direct service connecting the Port of Bilbao with key destinations in South and North America, aiming to enhance trade flows and provide faster, more efficient cargo movement between Europe and the Americas.
The service is designed to handle containerised cargo, offering exporters and importers a reliable and streamlined route that reduces transit times and port calls compared to traditional feeder services. MSC said the route will support growing trade volumes across sectors such as automotive, industrial goods, and consumer products.
Port authorities and industry experts highlighted that the new service will strengthen Bilbao’s role as a major logistics and transshipment hub in northern Spain, improving connectivity for European exporters targeting the Americas. The move is also expected to benefit regional supply chains by providing predictable schedules, enhanced capacity, and more competitive shipping options.
MSC’s new direct service aligns with its strategy to expand global coverage, optimize maritime trade networks, and meet rising demand for efficient, high-frequency container shipping between Europe and the Americas.
