Making way for the Greenfield airport at Parandur near Chennai, the process of land registration for transfer of land to Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) started on Wednesday. On the first day, 17.52 acres were registered for a value of ₹9.22 crore, says a release from the Kancheepuram District Collectorate Office.

The release said that 19 land title holders from five villages – Parandur, Podavur, Nelvai, Vallathur and Akkamapuram – participated in the direct talks chaired by the District Collector and agreed to transfer the land. Steps have been taken to pay the compensation to the land owners in their bank accounts on Wednesday , the release said.
