Singapore-based container shipping company Ocean Network Express (ONE) has expanded its service operations at Belawan Port, reinforcing its network connectivity across Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
The service enhancement includes additional port calls and improved scheduling, aimed at providing exporters and importers with faster transit times and more reliable cargo handling. The upgraded rotation is expected to better support the region’s trade flows, particularly for commodities, manufactured goods, and e-commerce shipments.
ONE said the expansion aligns with its strategy to strengthen intra-Asia services and offer customers more flexible options for shipping through Indonesia’s northern Sumatra gateway. The move also optimises feeder links to other key ports within its regional network.
Industry observers noted that Belawan Port, as a major container and transshipment hub, plays a strategic role in connecting North Sumatra’s production centres with domestic and international markets. Enhanced service frequency and coverage by carriers like ONE can contribute to greater supply chain efficiency and regional trade growth.
The shipping line confirmed that the enhanced Belawan service is operational immediately, providing improved schedules for regional shippers and supporting the broader goal of seamless cargo movement across Southeast Asia.
