Digital air freight platform cargo.one has announced the acquisition of Cargofive and unveiled a new multimodal artificial intelligence (AI) system aimed at streamlining freight procurement and pricing across transport modes.
The deal marks a strategic expansion for cargo.one as it moves beyond air cargo distribution into broader logistics technology solutions. By integrating Cargofive’s rate management capabilities, the company plans to enhance automation in quoting, contract management and carrier connectivity.
Alongside the acquisition, cargo.one introduced a multimodal AI engine designed to unify air, ocean and surface freight data into a single intelligent interface. The system is intended to provide freight forwarders and logistics providers with real-time pricing insights, predictive routing options and automated documentation support.
Company executives said the new AI platform leverages machine learning models trained on large volumes of rate and capacity data, enabling faster and more accurate quotation processes. The tool is also expected to improve visibility across supply chains by consolidating fragmented rate sheets and carrier information.
The acquisition of Cargofive strengthens cargo.one’s presence in rate digitisation, particularly in markets where manual processes still dominate freight pricing workflows. By combining distribution infrastructure with AI-powered analytics, the company aims to reduce turnaround times for quotes and improve margin transparency for forwarders.
Industry analysts view the move as part of a broader trend toward consolidation in freight technology, where digital platforms are expanding capabilities to offer end-to-end, multimodal solutions. As supply chains become increasingly complex, integrated AI systems are seen as critical for managing volatility, capacity constraints and fluctuating freight rates.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Integration of Cargofive’s systems into cargo.one’s platform is expected to roll out in phases over the coming months.
