The government has reinstated full benefits under the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) scheme for exporters, citing ongoing disruptions caused by the West Asia crisis. The move is aimed at easing financial pressure on exporters grappling with rising logistics costs, supply chain uncertainties, and delayed shipments.

According to official sources, the restoration of full RoDTEP rates will help offset embedded taxes and duties that are not otherwise refunded, thereby improving exporters’ cost competitiveness in global markets. The decision comes at a time when freight rates and insurance premiums have surged due to heightened geopolitical tensions in the region.

Exporters, particularly in sectors such as engineering goods, textiles, and agricultural products, have welcomed the move, noting that it provides much-needed relief amid volatile trading conditions. Many had earlier raised concerns over reduced benefits, which impacted margins and pricing flexibility.

The government is also closely monitoring the evolving situation in West Asia and its implications for India’s trade flows, especially through critical maritime routes. Industry stakeholders have urged for continued policy support and swift implementation to ensure that exporters can sustain operations and meet international demand despite ongoing challenges.
