GTL Lines has launched a second China–Khor Fakkan service, strengthening maritime connectivity between East Asia and the Gulf region and expanding capacity on one of its key trade routes.
The new service will connect major Chinese export hubs with Khor Fakkan, a strategically located deep-sea port on the UAE’s east coast known for its role as a transshipment gateway linking Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
Industry observers said the additional service reflects growing cargo demand on the China–Gulf corridor, driven by trade in consumer goods, electronics, machinery, automotive parts, textiles, and industrial equipment. Strong manufacturing output in China continues to support high export volumes to Gulf markets.
GTL Lines’s expansion is also expected to improve schedule frequency, reduce transit congestion, and offer shippers more flexibility in routing decisions. Increased capacity can help stabilise freight availability during peak demand periods.
Khor Fakkan has become an important hub for container transshipment due to its location outside the congested Strait of Hormuz and its modern port infrastructure, enabling efficient vessel handling and regional distribution.
Analysts noted that adding a second service signals confidence in sustained trade growth between China and the Gulf while reinforcing the port’s role as a strategic logistics node in global supply chains.
