V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority has reported robust cargo growth during the first two months of FY 2026–27, handling 7.56 million tonnes of cargo during April–May 2026, an increase of 8% compared to the corresponding period last year.
The growth was driven by a diversified cargo mix, with dry bulk, containers, break bulk and liquid bulk contributing significantly to overall throughput. The port’s balanced cargo portfolio highlights its operational resilience and ability to efficiently serve varied trade requirements.
The performance reflects the port’s continued focus on enhancing operational efficiency, improving customer service, and strengthening its position as a key maritime gateway on India’s east coast.
