The Association of Container Train Operators (ACTO) has appointed Mr. Sanjiv Garg, an eminent and senior logistics professional, as Senior Advisor to support and strengthen the container rail agenda in India.
Mr. Garg retired from the Government of India as Additional Member, Railway Board, following a long and distinguished career in the Indian Railways. A member of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), he has held several key positions spanning railway operations and commercial functions.
He has also served as Managing Director of Pipavav Railway Corporation Limited, bringing extensive experience in container rail operations, logistics and multimodal transportation.
Currently, Mr. Garg serves as Secretary General of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT) – India. He is also a nominee/independent director on the boards of Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd. and CJ DARCL Logistics. In addition, he serves as an Assessor and Mentor with the Capacity Building Commission, Government of India, supporting the National Standards for Civil Service Training Institutions.
ACTO said Mr. Garg’s extensive experience in railway operations, logistics, commercial management and multimodal transportation will provide valuable strategic guidance to the organisation.
His appointment is expected to contribute significantly to ACTO’s efforts to build a stronger, more efficient and competitive container rail logistics sector, while supporting improved rail-based cargo movement and strengthening India’s multimodal logistics ecosystem.
